Program and Operations Associate
Christian Associates of Southwest Pennsylvania is seeking a Program and Operations Associate to serve through Lutheran Volunteer Corps in the 2025-2026 program year.
About Lutheran Volunteer Corps:
Lutheran Volunteer Corps is a community of faith uniting people to work for peace with justice. LVC places Volunteers (many are recent college graduates; others are people from all walks of life) in full-time, one-year positions at nonprofit organizations, engaging in substantive and meaningful service and developing leadership skills. Volunteers live simply and sustainably in intentional community, exploring spirituality together, and receive a modest stipend to cover basic living expenses. LVC is open to people of all faith and spiritual traditions. LVC will be placing Volunteers in Pittsburgh for the first time in the 2025-2026 program year.
Position Description:
The LVF Program & Operations Associate at Christian Associates of Southwest Pennsylvania will hold a broad portfolio of tasks that support the ministries of this regional ecumenical organization, including leadership and support of ecumenical and interfaith projects, web design and communications assistance, and fundraising assistance. Specific duties and responsibilities may include:

Providing leadership and/or support to in ecumenical and interfaith projects, such as:

researching and updating a directory of local ecumenical organizations throughout the region, then using this research to convene local leaders and to prepare welcome packets for new clergy

planning webinars and other educational opportunities that highlight effective ecumenical partnerships

working with a team of clergy and lay leaders to plan forums on effective dialogue across difference.

Representing Christian Associates in ongoing partnerships with community coalitions (such as the Bread for the World team, Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, Pittsburgh Pastoral Care Conference planning team, etc.)

Providing support for ongoing interfaith projects, such as the We Have to Talk series of interfaith field trips and the Reckoning with Antisemitism as Christians text study and preaching challenge.

Assistance with fundraising, including researching and writing grant proposals.

Redesign and ongoing maintenance of Christian Associates' website, re-organization of our online video library, and participating in Christian Associates' other communication ministries (paper and electronic newsletters, social media).

Representing Christian Associates at judicatory meetings and ecumenical/interfaith events
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required for this position:
-
Familiarity with, curiosity about, and passion for the Christian church in its many diverse forms; a commitment to our mission of visible Christian unity; and the ability to work respectfully with Christians from various traditions (Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, and independent/evangelical; Black, white, and of other races; urban and rural; progressive and conservative).

Open-minded interest in non-Christian religious traditions and a willingness to work respectfully in interfaith contexts, with some familiarity with other faith traditions a plus.

Excellent skills in written and verbal communication: comfort with phone, email, Zoom, social media, writing for publication, etc.

Experience leading groups, planning events, facilitating meetings, and seeing collaborative projects through from start to finish.

Comfort with technology and fluency with basic email and word processing tools, with some experience in basic graphic design and web design (e.g. Canva, Wix).

Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

Good judgment, friendly and optimistic outlook, professional orientation, flexibility, and the ability to establish strong working relationships.
